21 Day Fix Approved BBQ Sauce
When you adopt the 21 Day Fix as a way of life like I have...there are just certain foods you miss. Like BBQ sauce.
I really don't miss store-bought salad dressing; my dressings made at home from olive oil or avocado, fresh herbs, and vinegar or lemon juice are way yummier and don't give me a sugar rush and crash (and what's sugar doing in salad dressing anyway?)
BBQ sauce took a little more work to figure out how to make it from Fix-approved ingredients...but I did it! If you try it, let me know if you agree that it's finger-lickin' good!
21 Day Fix Approved BBQ Sauce
1/4 c tomato paste
2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 Tbsp maple syrup
2 tsp coconut aminos or low-sodium soy sauce
1 clove garlic, pressed or minced
1 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
Pour 1/2 c water into a small saucepan. Add all ingredients except olive oil and whisk together.
Bring sauce to a boil and continue boiling for 3 to 4 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in olive oil.
Voila! I'd count this recipe equal to 2 orange containers, so depending on what you are making, you could double it (for 4 servings of 1 orange container each), or cut it in half (for just 1 orange container) if you're cooking for one.
