Welcome to the Best Online Workout Library There Is!
It's been six years since the debut of the Beachbody on Demand digital workout library, and what started out as a great product has become the leader in value for online fitness and nutrition resources. (Yes, I'm an affiliate, but I represent this product because it's something I personally believe in and use every day. I'm also a fitness junkie who will try just about any video or class a friend invites me to, so I'm keeping an eye on the competition and I still think this is the best value in the market.)
The video library now includes nearly one hundred programs—all in all, thousands of exercise videos to choose from, since one of those hundred programs by itself might consist of dozens of workout sessions, each of them unique.
Not only that, but each program is carefully designed with input from exercise scientists and meticulously tested before filming. Not only do the videos have top-notch production values—including high-quality audio and clear camera angles, so you're never lost or confused—but the workout routines are rehearsed by the cast and then tested by "regular people." Moves that are confusing are removed or the instructions clarified. Anything with the potential to be unsafe (such as fancy footwork that causes people to trip) is removed. The difficulty level of the program is made consistent, so the program progresses from easier sessions at the beginning to more challenging ones at the end. An incredible amount of thought and care go into making these programs the best they can be before they are released to subscribers.
Now, I recognize the name is a little bit silly. You can't get a "beach body" (or any kind of body) on demand. But to me the name speaks to feeling confident on a beach—or really, feeling great in your body whatever the location. More so than changing your body, the emphasis of these workout programs (and the library as a whole) is to create a healthy body through strength training, aerobic exercise (cardio), and other modes of movement that can help to build mindfulness and flexibility as well as strength and endurance.
Beachbody on Demand is no longer just about fitness. It also contains a library of healthy recipes (Fixate), and many membership packages now also include access to our signature nutrition programs, 2B Mindset and Ultimate Portion Fix. In addition, a 21 day intro to meditation was recently added, featuring a variety of meditation styles designed for beginners.
The library now has dedicated sections for pre- and postnatal workouts as well as a "kids and family" section. And if you are looking for a gentler style of movement that incorporates mindfulness, Tai Cheng and Beachbody Yoga Studio are excellent options. Many of the workout programs also include excellent stretching, foam rolling, and functional strength videos that can be great for "preventive maintenance" on our bodies even when we aren't doing that particular workout program.
With recent technology upgrades, several apps were integrated into one, so you can now play your workouts, log your workouts, log your meals and snacks, watch nutrition education videos, and participate in our online community—all within a single, streamlined app.
As of this year, pricing for Beachbody on Demand is $100 a year, $80 for six months, or $60 for three months. You can get it at a significant discount if you are interested in a combo pack with any of our supplements (such as Shakeology or our all-natural pre-workout, post-workout, clean hydration, or overnight muscle repair formula from our sports performance line).
For this price, your membership includes everything Beachbody on Demand has to offer, except for the single program most recently released (from the list below, currently the "Let's Get Up" dance-based workout from Shaun T). For the newest release, there is an extra charge to access it right away; or, you can wait about six months and it will be added to the library for all subscribers (similar to how we used to have to wait for a movie to come out on video or we could pay more to see it at the theater when it was first released). If you do pay extra for "VIP early access" to the new release, it typically comes in a kit with any special equipment that is needed for the new program (if applicable), and often some fun items like a journal or a dry erase wall calendar to check off your workouts.
In addition, there is an extra cost for the nutrition programs (2B Mindset and Ultimate Portion Fix) if you did not join with a combo pack that already included them.

Beachbody on Demand works on a variety of technology platforms. If you are curious to find out if it will be compatible with your device, you can check out this page or call tech support at 800-470-7870. The setup I generally use is a smart TV with a Chromecast plugged into the USB port. I usually play workouts from the BOD app directly on the TV, but I could also play the workout on my phone and cast it to the TV (in which case the TV is just the display). In the past, I have played workouts from a web browser on my laptop, and I also play them directly on my phone when traveling.
Another valuable option to know about: It is possible to download workouts onto your device to play later offline. For example, if you don't have strong wifi or phone signal where you live, you could download your workout earlier in the day (say, at the office or at a coffee shop with wifi) and then play it once you get home. It's important to note that these downloads are not permanent. You will lose access to your downloaded files if your BOD membership expires.
If you are ready to give it a try, you can enroll now or email me at the address below to discuss options and get answers to any questions you may have. (The three-month membership plan includes a fourteen-day free trial, and if you do the trial you can still upgrade to one of the packages that is a better value before your first payment is processed.)
